I love this “storm” on Organteq. Dynamic! Almost like a terminator

BUT, In the video I had to reduce the number of stops to get the video recorded at all, difficulties with synchronizing picture and music, I think the great storm was sweeping the little Mac mini processor along, as the furor rages on……

There are many fast triplets in the left hand but they apparently drown in the storm………

Henry Marcellus Higgs (1854-1929) was the son of Marcellus Higgs (1827-1897) and Clara Tomlin.

"Twelve Miniatures" dates from 1913 and was published by Novello & Co. Ltd.

The ninth piece, "Allegro" is in the key of D minor, and written in 3/4 time. From beginning to end, this piece is all about a great storm, sweeping the listener along as the furor rages on. Often, these "storm pieces" end happily in the major, but here, Higgs keeps it minor to the end, final reaching a thunderous conclusion.

The work is very reminiscent of some of the "Preludes and Fugues" by Mendelssohn, and elements of Rheinberger's style is also present.

The registration indicated just says "Full Organ," but my Mac mini can’t make it so I've left some stops out. (got the descriptions from my friend David, thanks to him)

I'll try to record No 10 and No 12 (marked "Finale" ) too. I'll collect all the Higgs Miniatures in a thread later for those who enjoy listening to Organteq and Higgs.

Stay tuned.

https://youtu.be/ikvzaBCO1aE

Best wishes,

Stig

Pianoteqenthusiast, Organteqenthusiast, Harpteqenthusiast, Harpsichordteqenthusiast, experimenter and Graf/Grimalditeqenthusiast and Celesteteqenthusiast
