FWIW, something like this will likely be the case with other DAWs as well. If you open the .MIDI file as a new project/song/session, it will take on the tempo of the file. But if you import the file into an existing project the exisitng tempo will pertain. Cakewalk by Bandlab works this way and does not offer the option to take on the tempo map from the MIDI file on import. I'll have to propose that as a new feature. ;^)

Usually I rather try to speed up my improvisations (I'm not a virtuoso pianist) so I often set the tempo of Reaper a bit faster.
But I have discovered an option in Reaper that may help:

Reaper has always asked if I wanted to import the tempo, as far as I recall.

If you load external MIDI piano files into Reaper those run at the correct tempo within Reaper played via Pianoteq too.

Yes, I discovered this, too. I wonder why Pianoteq doesn't embed the recorded tempo, it would make things a lot simpler.

But when you load the file in Pianoteq, it plays at the correct tempo - can anyone explain that?

You have to set the tempo of Reaper to match the one of Pianoteq

Hi to all,

I saved a midi file from Pianoteq from a performance I played.

When I import the midi in Reaper, it plays too fast, while it play with the good tempo in Pianoteq.

That must be something stupid but I can't understand why it plays fast in Reaper.

Could you help?
