Hi there,

old story… sounds like this: https://tatabeya.bandcamp.com/album/high-hopes – I didn't play any of this (except for some minor SetBFree Organ). PianoTeq contained in the last 3 tracks. I did the job of recording and mixing.

The recording of this EP was planned more or less as a jam session, so I though I was prepared for everything. The band met in their rehearsal room, I mic'ed them up, double-checked all channels and off we went. On the second day however they met a piano player and invited him to join in. All they had was a very very old Korg home piano that sounded like… yeah like oh well. :-) Luckily I found a MIDI cable in this rehearsal room after digging quite through some mess. So I recorded the MIDI signal from the old Korg and later on designed a piano sound using the PianoTeq LV2 plugin on Linux in Ardour.

Me and myself, I currently don't play piano in any combo, but when I play digital pianos at home, I always use PianoTeq, either on Linux or on OS X. I still like the Kawai keys a lot, also got the wooden Fatar keyboard, but this is more for my girlfriend, who's a professional piano player.
