here's another improvisation from a more modern Broadway tune, this time Hooverville from Annie. this song is not very well known outside of diehard musical theatre fans, but again for embarrassing personal reasons i'm very familiar with it . for this one i was really trying to do something different, like really reinvent it. so it definitely doesn't sound like the original. i was trying to channel James Booker. it could also be done as a Brazilian tune, like a bossa nova or a samba. it's a surprisingly flexible tune.
