Beautiful, haunting, mysterious…….Coltrane music is something special. And then I read that the song was Coltrane's favorite composition, written as a love letter to his first wife, Naima ( Juanita Naima Grubb).

This is a slow ballad, reverential, it seems to stand still, as if time stood still when you played - an amazing performance budo.

Again, my listening - section that starting from 2,08 (I like it) section starting from 3,15 (like it even more) secton 3,38 - 4,07 (best, very nice playing)
Ending 6,12…..wonderful chords.

Thanks for sharing this piece - it is life.

Edit And I like the sound
Best wishes,

Stig

Pianoteqenthusiast, Organteqenthusiast, Harpteqenthusiast, Harpsichordteqenthusiast, CP-80teqenthusiast and experimenter

thank you, i really appreciate it. yes i agree i could have gone with a more classical recording perspective and maybe it would have been a better choice. but lately i've been using the NY Steinway Jazz Recording a lot and it's a very close and stringy perspective.

another tune from the Real Book, this time a beautiful ballad by John Coltrane "Naima," named for his first wife. he first released it on his album Giant Steps, but i think my favorite version of it appears on the Complete Village Vanguard recordings.

https://youtu.be/udkekhV3RoM
