For me, the piano sound needs a bit more presence. I think it's mainly about resonance: some combination of sustain pedal and reverb. Especially for the high register, the direct sound from the strings is only a small part of what we hear, and getting the right reverb settings can make quite a difference.

very cool piece. it gets really intense at the end ... it might actually bite me if i tried to play it! also i followed some of the links through soundcloud and heard the hyperpiano piece ... that was very cool. we definitely need an expert to make an fxp of that beast. how did you ever get that recorded? and i saw that you have tons of stuff on imslp, will be checking that out ...
