Is Handel's Messiah for Easter? Music from the Oratorio (Organteq)

“Messiah,” George Frederic Handel's great oratorio, has become a part of Christmas celebrations worldwide — and yet it was written for Easter. But only the first third of the work was about the birth of Jesus. The second act covers the death of Jesus and the third focused on his resurrection. As such, the piece was originally conceived as a work for Easter and was premiered in the spring during the Lent season.

George Frideric Handel’s Messiah has remained one of the composer’s most beloved works. Incredibly, Handel completed this 260-page oratorio in just 24 days 1741. The first performance of Messiah was on 13th April 1742, to celebrate Easter.

Here I have collected four pieces from the oratorio, playing with Organteq.

Enjoy

Best wishes

Stig

Pianoteqenthusiast, Organteqenthusiast, Harpteqenthusiast, Harpsichordteqenthusiast

He shall feed his flock

https://forum.modartt.com/uploads.php?f...ock%20.mp3

How beautiful ate the feet

https://forum.modartt.com/uploads.php?f...012.40.mp3

I know that my redeemer liveth

https://www.modartt.com/data/audio/orga...tbacka.mp3

Hallelujah

https://youtu.be/nFqyQhaAdAA
