Written as a pricing guide for craftsman, it apparently details each step in constructing a piano around 1835, well before the age of CAD.</p><p>In any event, the American Musical Instrument Society seems to be worth knowing about, if just for their resources page at <a href="http://www.amis.org/resources/index.html">http://www.amis.org/resources/index.html</a> .</p><p>(I&#039;m not associated with the society or the book...)</p>]]></description>
