beautiful performance.  i'm only familiar with Bach's Cantata on this theme, so this is a refreshing way to hear it.  definitely hope to hear more!

The prelude on "Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme" ("Sleepers, wake! A voice is calling")

Heinrich Schmidt (April 30, 1861 - May 23, 1923) was a German composer and musicologist. He studied at the Royal School of Music in Munich, and for many years was a professor at the Bayreuth Teachers' Seminary.

He composed a concerto for organ and string instruments, lieder. and music for popular performances, as well as a series of transcripts (books).

The prelude on "Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme" ("Sleepers, wake! A voice is calling") is rather like a piece of miniature Reger. It is grandiose, despite the fact that it last for only 2 and 1/2 minutes. As my friend said: The effect is solemn, yet joyful, and the massive conclusion is really really impressive.

As I have said before, I have played so many pieces with Orgtq - but this was really difficult, tricky Listen with headphones, I have always to record with HP, living in a flat 3rd floor....
