Hi Eran,

Sorry to insist, but at first I also thought there was no problem, until I actually tried the file in other soft instruments such as Ivory. Did you try playing the MIDI file in different instruments?

I followed your suggestions, but to no avail. Also looked into velocity mapping but all was fine.

The sound of Pianoteq has greatly matured. It sounds like a real piano, but with added playability. Only on polyphonic sustained notes I hear a bit of ringing that sounds synthetic, as if the piano suddenly turns into an organ. In the previous versions of Pianoteq, I always favored the sound of Ivory, but now it is a close call.

Cheers,

Jack

Hi Jack

I have tried this file (pianotest1.mid) several times without any trouble.
Try increasing polyphony and latency.
Also try to uncheck "CPU overload detection" (under options/Perf/CPU)

I've been using pianoteq for 2 years now, and am very pleased with it. It keeps getting better and better - and the last reincarnation is quite amazing IMHO. I haven't had any hands on sample libraries - including Ivory, so it would be very interesting for me to hear you opinion (on sound and playability) - mine is already biased...

good luck
Eran

Dear all,

I am still pondering over whether to buy Pianoteq (currently I use Synthogy's Ivory). I have been doing a lot of side by side comparisons, and ended up downloading a MIDI file at www.purgatorycreek.com that was construed to reveal weaknesses in digital piano emulations. To my surprise, the opening sequence of the MIDI file has a rapid succession of short notes, and while I can hear all of them in Ivory, some are not audible in Pianoteq. I tried different presets and piano models, all with the same result.

Could some of you try to confirm this? I am not trying to bash Pianoteq, just would like to know what is going on.

Cheers,

Jack
