You might get more input if you include Odroid vs i7 laptop in your subject. I'm pretty sure there are Odroid experts here that might be able to offer some good advice.

Personally, sound quality trumps compactness. Deactivate the Odroid XU4q.

Are either of the laptops 2-in-1? If you can fold them into tablet form, you could just set the laptop on your music rest (what I plan on doing when I get a live rig put together).

If I had to vote, I would always deactivate the device which needs a fan.

I recently upgraded from v6 to v7.
I have PT activated on 3 devices: two laptops (CPUs: i7-4710mq and i7-7700hq) and an Odroid XU4q.
After upgrade, the XU4 can't handle 44.1 kHz anymore, it works well at 32 kHz. So I plan to use an Odroid N2 which I have, which can run PT at audio CD quality. I currently use two digital pianos: a Kawai MP11 and a CL35. I can place my laptop on the MP11, but I can't do te same on the CL35. I use the newer laptop 99% of the time.
So I am hesitating between two options: deactivate the i7-4710mq laptop or the Odroid XU4. In the first option, I would have two small devices to use pianoteq and a laptop if needed, in the second I would have one laptop on a piano, the odroid on the other and a second backup laptop.
So far:
Pros of keeping the XU4 activated: I use PT headlessly, it uses a small space, I prefer it to the laptop, it would be nice to have two compact, headless PT devices.
Cons of keeping the XU4 activated: The audio quality has to be lowered, may be in a future update the XU4 won't be able to keep up.
Pros of keeping the laptop activated: The CPU is more powerful, I think it performance will be appropiate for more time. If something happens to the other laptop, I will still have an option with keyboard, screen, etc.
Cons of keeping the laptop: I really don't use it much (I prefer the newer one).
