It’s cool there are platforms that actually help the original creators to make money off their music. I know it’s hard for them to survive because the environment is quite unwelcoming, and most of them have to have side careers to afford to make music and not die of hunger.
It’s a pity there are not many platforms that actually help creators. You can also pay attention to platforms like https://streampot.com/, which helps to get more listeners and followers on Spotify. It helps the musicians to raise awareness around their band and therefore get more people who will listen to them in the future and buy tickets to their concerts.

OK, just got an email today announcing that Soundrop is dropping the $9.99 and going to $0.99 a song, whether original or cover. No yearly fees, just $0.99 upfront and 15% of revenue. This just got so much better!

Hi everyone, just wanted to share my thoughts on digital distribution.

I have use several distributors over the past few years. I started with DistroKid, which is a great company, but they do have drawbacks. Mainly how they handle cover song licensing. They charge $12 a year to clear your song, and while that might be reasonable if you are getting a ton of streams, most artists are going to loose money.

That's when I discovered Soundrop. (I am not getting paid in any way to promote Soundrop). They have been the easiest company I have worked with yet. Here is a quote from their website on pricing:

"We charge $9.99 per cover song to secure the required license, and then we keep 15% of the revenue you earn from digital music platforms. This means we only make money when you do; we’re a partner in your success today, tomorrow, forever."

You only pay $9.99 one time, for perpetual clearence.

This is by far the easiest, most cost effective way to release cover songs, or any song really. Violinist Daniel Jang uses them, and he releases a lot of covers.

Hope someone found this helpful!
