3ème Gymnopédie: Lent et grave - ”slowly and seriously, gravely”.
This piece of music is probably not often played and possibly quite unknown performed with a pipe organ. Have recorded all 3 Gymnos with Organteq.
The work's unusual title comes from the French form of gymnopedia, the ancient Greek word for an annual festival where young men danced naked – or perhaps simply unarmed. The source of the title has been a subject of debate. In November 1888, the third Gymnopédie was published.
