Well, this update is something of a confirmation to me. It seems because whenever I’ve wanted a preset to sound anything like a piano I can hear from numerous jazz recordings, I regularly do change a default to a lowered Damping duration, and to a point where I was becoming somewhat self conscious about it.

I was maybe myself just self conscious since any posts about possible jazz piano preset applications are in a minority. (As you know, few, if any, at this forum are now offering a huge wealth of knowledge and even insights into the genre as a way presets might really work within it.)

Still determined I also try and change Damper noise in PIANOTEQ PRO to see if I can create some up close jazz piano sound from it. Only as I adjust the parameter to a position where an indicator shows a six decibel (+6 dB) gain on the interface, I’m hearing nothing increased even close to that (+6 dB) level of volume from the piano dampers.

Yet, I’m optimistic as the recent changes to the presets can finally signal jazz recordings and ways PIANOTEQ might emulate those very historical receiving some new attention from the developers.
