There have been attempts before at virtual synthesis... I have Yamaha's attempt on my EL-900 and I recall Technics' attempts on a tone generator, I've since let go

I sincerely hope these big, multi-billion companies don't try to buyout PIANOTEQ and then bury the technology or am I being somewhat pessimistic?

As an old retired school teacher (pupils 8-13 years) I learned that enthusiasm and experimentation create the best conditions for new knowledge

So you are on the right track  We have all seen it already, you are a person who introduces new methods, ideas - an innovator. Keep going !
