Any i5 or i7 laptop will do. If you are just using Pianoteq for practice then 8gb ram will do. You can pick up a decent refurbished pc or laptop for about £400-£500. I bought a Dell all in one PC with 16gb Ram, 3Ghz, 500 GB SSD and it is an i7 for £500 so you should not have any trouble finding a lower spec for less.
In terms of a sound card try the Motu M2 it will cost you only about £150 I think and it is really good for its price range, probably the best.

]]>I have just registered as a new member, and was looking for some help.
I have a Kawai VPC 1 on order, and need to sort myself out with a laptop and
a midi sound module.
As an organist, also, I have the Hauptwerk organ software, and the speaker system (M-Audio BX8's and a matching subwoofer), so I'm halfway there!
I've not used the organ software for years, as I am doing much more with the piano now, and just use the church organ, if needed.
I downloaded the trial Pianoteq 7, but my PC CPU, is no longer suitable, as it is many years old, and not powerful enough.
Could someone please suggest a laptop, and sound module to get started?
I don't mind paying £400-£600 (UK), for the laptop and I'm not sure about a sound module; maybe £200?, but less would be good.
I don't want to waste people's time giving me long, detailed replies; as I'm sure there are a thousands of different options.
Just a simple point in the right direction, with a suitable laptop, and sound module.
