Amaryllis wrote:

Ed : Stig, did you play it ?

Will, I have not played it. People play it too fast (I think). But now I found on Yt where Widor himself play it, much slower. I read that Widor was unhappy with how fast many other organists played it. He recorded the piece, at St. Sulpice in his 88 year; the tempo used for the Toccata is quite slow. If I find the sheet in my city library, I’ll try to play it with Widor’s own tempo. It is Widors best known piece for organ and often played at wedding ceremonies.

Stig

I'm glad Someone (Roman ?) suggested that it would be nice to have music with Organteq from more recent composers (like mid 1800s to mid 1900s). I thought it is a good idea. There is so much Bach and baroque music to listen to. Some pieces have probably not been performed often / for a long time, and it might be unique that they can be heard in this sub-forum. Descriptions about composers are more complete than before and they are now right after the music. I have a friend in another forum who share the scores to these rare composers music. Many thanks to him.
My favorites are Cradle Song and Seranata (under copyright for the moment, had to remove it). I put it back when it become public domain....In Serenata I managed to get Organteq sound as a saxophone (almost). I hope I can share it some day....

Stig

Pianoteqenthusiast wrote:

algorhythms wrote:

Pianoteqenthusiast wrote:

Updated with Serenata.

Stig, what a considerable achievement, both your very musical and insightful playing and your ear for registration on all these rare gems of the organ literature. Thank you for sharing them and allowing them to see the light of day. They deserve to be better known.

Your biographical information I found enlightening and helpful. Lots of research must have gone into that. Thank you for adding that.

Did you do all this using one keyboard? Don't see how that's possible.

Interesting that most of the music you chose is by English organist/composers. In my youth when I played organ for church one of our members was a Mr. Willis of the famed Willis Organ Company. He had come to the US during WWII to work for the military at the air base near my hometown in Florida. Our organ was just a simple one manual reed organ with a few stops but he seemed to like hearing it on Sundays.

Please continue to post these "lost" composers!

Best wishes,
Robert

Robert, thank you for your support, kind words, encouragement. I’m grateful and I appreciate you.

1) About ”the biographical information …..lots of research…” Well, I was lucky to get permission from a friend, to use these/his descriptions. He said ”feel free to use them”. What a gift. I have shortened here and there and changed a little.

2) About keyboards, ”using one keyboard?” I have 2 keyboards but no pedalboard yet (saving money for better keyboard and pedalboard). Unfortunately, I have to play pedalpart for organ separately afterwards, on separat track, with keyboard, using my DAW, for the time being (and some times left hand too, on separat track, depending on the difficulty of the music piece).

3)About the music…..”most of the music you chose is by English organist/composers”. Well, my same ”music friend” have recorded very much english music and have often sheet music attachments of these "lost composers” in connection with his recordings. I choose, in my opinion, the most interesting music from there.

4) And, about …”Please continue to post these "lost" composers!” Yes, as long as my hands/fingers working, I’ll do, probably only one or two more. Sad that they are going in bad condition, little fingers cannot fully straighten and they are all coming stiff. But, as you can hear, I can still play The future will show how it goes…..

Thank you for listening to my music and liking my registration.
Take care,

Stig

Stig,

Thank you for taking time to reply in such detail and your kind words are much appreciated. One would never know from your recordings your fingers are beginning to cause you trouble. I'm very sorry to hear that and hope steps can be taken to slow down whatever is the cause.

I think we both are of the same, or at least close, generation and every day it seems brings another change to accept .

Your friend is a treasure! You are so lucky to be able to share your love of music and the organ with someone like that.

I do wish you all the best and look forward to hearing more of these lovely works for organ!

Warmest wishes always,
Robert
