I once used an AER alpha for piano and voice (in mono), and was very suprised by the quality for the size of the thing. very practical.
Otherwise I record monitered on my adam speakers and when I wan't to have fun, I also feed the audio too a couple of cheap speakers that are just the right size to be put under the keyboard and used as a stand. That way the sound comes from the keyboard and vibrates the keys (not like a real piano, but it does give tht extra thing that is often missing when playing on a midi controler)
Otherwise live, I just plug into the PA we have (often different) and hope for the best.

I recently used a pair of Alesis M1 Active 620 monitors. A little bit of noise but I like the "studio-like" sound, and it's loud enough for live use with other NOT amplified instruments (violins, cello, etc...).

Actually what I am mostly missing is a lightweight (like 10Kg) quality amped-speaker system for small gigs (~50 people). Probably should be at least 120W rms. I'm willing to compromise on the home-monitoring stuff for now.

I imagine your needs are similar to those discussed (frequently) at the Harmony Central Keys, Synths & Samples forum.

but there have been many such discussions of varying quality.

Myself, I use headphones or my stereo at home through a Novation X-Station as audio interface. On stage I have a Yorkville KW100 as monitor and amplify through the mains.

Pianoteq amplification

Hi,
I am wondering if anyone has any interesting experience with amplifying pianoteq. I have two "use-cases" - one is monitoring for home recording, the other is live gigs.
I'm using it through my standard line output from my laptop's sound card into a low-end amplified speaker (Alto). I wonder if anyone could recommend specific gear that does good service for pianoteq.

P.S. just wanted to THANK YOU for this amazing software. I thought I shouldn't expect this technology for years to come ... Finally I have a digital piano which I can use artisitically - afterall I can't carry my Yamaha U1 to gigs :-)
