Love the right-clicks within the interface BTW.. while on it..

try right-clicking some of the other main controls to see things like the Blooming "Energy" slider.. humanize! - or one I like to show new people, right-click "Unison width" to go further and alter Unison balance. May all seem subtle or strange - but give editing time (I am always still finding new appreciations for daring methods and minute changes alike).

Just re-read my step #3 and it should say "both control notes and data reverts".. sorry - I now see I'm ze crazee one - I'll go put that edit up there too for anyone seeing it. Cheers to you Tez!

That happens when trying to come up with easy to follow steps - make it harder! - unintended - hope it makes better sense for anyone happening on it now. (hate doing that - I have made blunders in re-collecting a feature's behaviour - in this case I really just edited down irrelevant steps and left the wrong line for step 3 there).

(hope I understood your question there too! Maybe you're meaning something else entirely)

By using both methods of selecting the same preset, we can choose (with right-click to select it) to maintain the control notes we just altered but reset note data we changed (and keep working from that point)..

or alternatively select the preset left-click, and that method resets both the control points and that changed note data, so we can continue to edit from there with that option. Nice to decide "I like where I've put those control notes - but I don't like all the changes to the notes I made for the last few minutes, I'll refresh just that data by right-clicking the preset name, to keep control points but return the note data to last saved state".

Ah, yes - even if no "save" has been made this is the territory for the above - it will return to the last saved state

Any reversions should go back to any prior save (or the default if using a default preset).

I don't have Pianoteq in front of me now to be 1000% certain of the above - apologies if incorrect - love to learn if so! Hoping to help out, cheers.

You've noticed something which might seem like a bug on the surface but is actually one of the excellent things about Pianoteq

It may not be clear why to other readers, so I'll give a quick step through example..

Step #1:

If we just open any preset,

click note-edit
(let's say it's 'volume' but could be anything)

add a control note
(I double click on the keys on lower bar)

lastly, change a note's data
(make one note's large change clear enough to see)

..

Step #2:

from that point, perform a right-click on the piano's title..

The note's data is the only changed thing.

..

Step #3:

start again from step 1 but this time left-click to select the preset and..

Voile - The note's data change stays, but control notes go back to default placement.

..

It's a great way to work - wouldn't want this changed

If at any time, you want to continue later and decide to keep your control points and edits together, this is a good time to save a working version like for example, "NY Steinway D - Qexl b06" or similar. Keeping a trail of presets on the way to your final one, you can have options in abundance.

Thanks for the response but unless I'm crazy Step #1 followed by Step #3, that is selecting the preset from the drop down menu, the note data would only change if you had saved the preset.

Last I guess any preset selected from the drop down menu always reverts control notes go back to default placement .
