Check out the "Flamenco Sketches" preset. It's based on Bill Evans' piano on the Kind of Blue album (except that it's in tune; or perhaps the tuning is just different).

Ditto for what Mario said!

I haven't _ever_ seen the standalone version of Pianoteq crash (though Live has given up the ghost a few times, which is probably due to the plethora of plug-ins I use ;^) in over a year's worth of usage. It's absolutely rock-solid for performance.

And the fact that _everything_ is so _easily_ MIDI-assignable should serve as a MAJOR example to all other plug-in makers.

Be sure to try the vibes and rock piano add-ons, especially as you're looking for jazz-performance applications; I think that _both_ of these instruments (and their various incarnations) would be excellent for you.

Pianoteq is a very reliable piece of software that NEVER crashed for me in 2 years I've had my experiences with it!

You can access it using the sliders and knobs, of course! Every control in Pianoteq can be linked to a MIDI Control Change number! Same goes for patches - you can make your own folder, sort the presets in the way you like (name them with a number starting, then you can have your presets sorted just like you need it for the gig), and then you can simply assign every preset to a Program Change number (1-127), then you can switch them from your master keyboard.

Hi,

I'm currently playing around with the trial version and I'm very impressed! Especially the dynamics are incredible for a digital piano. I'm planning to use it within a Jazzband (trombone or trumpet, piano, bass, drums, sometimes with guitar).

I'm still playing the old Kurzweil microPiano (having a UME CF8 as masterkeyboard). It is definitely out-of-date concerning the piano sound. However, I really like its brightness in a band setting.

Has anybody here in this forum experiences using Pianoteq in a Jazzband (EQ settings, mics positions, etc.)?

And in general: how reliable is Pianoteq live? Any experiences?

The next problem, in case I switch to Pianoteq, is then, how to use a laptop on stage. Are there any racks available (for laptop and audio interface - I have a Tascam US-122L) so that I can access Pianoteq easily when playing live on stage? Or should I access it remotely using all the sliders and knobs of my masterkeyboard? Can I change the preset remotely as well (e.g. switching from piano to Rhodes)?

Many questions - but it is definitely much fun playing with Pianoteq!

Many thanks in advance,
Andy.
