I'm on OSX, not Linux but I can switch between the two how I like. I used it yesterday to check the changes from PT6 to 7 by opening one, playing a few notes, opening the other etc. No problems whatsoever.

At the moment the performance on my fanless system seems to be sufficient for the NY Steinway. I disabled the automatic chord detection and disabling delay/reverb is another option. Last ressort would be to reduce polyphony 64 to 48. But I'll try to avoid the last, since I noticed, that 64 sounds better than 48 (!). This surprised me, as I normally play much less notes at the same time.

I enjoy the new Pianoteq 7 very much, hopefully I don't need the "fallback".

Yes, I've been doing exactly this with a couple of earlier versions. Each version has its own directory, own settings and own presets. Anything you change in one version will be ignored by the other version. I've had no problems working this way.

I've had no problems switching between versions; presets, custom settings, modifications and the A/B selections are all maintained per instance. I recommend keeping the old installers around for a few versions if you're interesting in maintaining access to legacy versions.

EDIT: this is OSX...can't speak for Linux but I wouldn't expect anything different

I was able to backtrack a couple of times. First, when 6 wouldn't work with my Mac G5 and I think twice on my current MacBooks. The 2011 laptop can't be upgraded to Catalina OS and the 2012 had problems with later versions of 6.

I'm pretty sure you can find archives of earlier versions or contact support. They fixed me right up.

Hi,

there was no problem installing Pianoteq 7 at all. My former v6.7.3 is per default in a separate directory than v7.0.1 (see my commands).

For sure I could start the older release, but I don't want to try that blindly without knowing the consequences.

Have you tried switching between P6 and P7 under Linux? No settings interactions to worry about?
