I think it's someone manually plucking the piano strings rather than being hit by the piano hammers. It's not really so important if Pianoteq can't do that sound, more the other soft piano used in the track.

BTW - Is it possible to have the sounds of the keys being pressed as a setting in Pianoteq, I know you can adjust the hammer noise but was unsure if you could have the key pressing noise too - maybe if you placed the mics right near to the keys on the virtual piano on the mic setup screen ?

Agreed - I think Pianoteq can get pretty close. If you're not happy with the integrated reverbs, you could always augment it with an external reverb, too.

The bright/stringy sound would be the most challenging though, I think - there's a lot of "detail" in that sound. (are you absolutely sure that's a piano, btw? Very interesting sound)

You can get similar sounds, the integrated reverb is really good!

Hi guys,

I'm a potential Pianoteq purchaser and was wondering if there's a preset in Pianoteq to create the kind of piano you hear in ambient/modern classical pieces.

It's probably better if I give you some examples ! :

The second example has two piano sounds - The first is a very stringy sounding/prepared piano sound, and the second a really mellow woody sound. Can pianoteq do both types - though it's more the second piano I'd love to re-create.
