In linux I am able to run multiple instances of Pianoteq without problems. I normally have only done 2, but as a test I started up 10 versions. They all work, CPU usage is manageable, but the output signal is too large and distorts my monitors. It would be better to run many versions in a DAW or instrument host where you can put a limiter on the master output to avoid distortion.

Actually, I might suggest a feature request to allow selecting both A and B presets at once, say, holding the shift key while clicking on either A or B. Then regular click to go back to an individual selection. But I suspect it may require significant internal changes to allow one instance to play 2 different sounds.

I was thinking this a couple of weeks ago after watching a few keyboard reviews where layering sounds were a feature on most, if not all of them.

I had a method that no longer worked since I upgraded to W10, the second instance keeps asking for activation.. no matter what compatibility I run it to

Just tried this in Reaper. Loaded 8 instances of PT with different instruments. Starts sounding very muddy but it works and no latency issues. CPU is an AMD 3700x and 16gigs of ram. According to the CPU meter CPU usage never went over 15%

You can duplicate the existing Pianoteq installation and then start the original and the copy.
Writing sound to file would still be a problem. You could write original and copy to different files and then add the sounds in Audacity or whatever.

Having either a keyboard split option in the standalone, a layering option in the standalone, or the A/B preset swap pre-loaded into memory for a latency free swap would be useful. The standalone--which I primarily use unless I'm syncing the sound to other instruments or sounds--would be generally more flexible and convenient with any of those changes/additions.

Also, having a simpler way of controlling which harpsichord strings we're playing using the pedals like on traditional harpsichords would be very welcome! (Since I don't really need the novelty of sostenuto for harpsichord--I'd prefer a toggle switch for harpsichord pedal functions like we already have for the harp instrument pack.)

One DAW with multi VSTs usually 'runs lighter' than multiple instances of the Pianoteq independent playing program.

Unless you have some sort of Super Computer running, there is no way you will be able to play 20 Pianoteq instruments 'live' in Studio One Pro!

Layering Pianoteq in Studio One with 20 instances maybe possible with maximum buffer, good luck trying that. One way would be to transform to audio though! Haha.

It is an interesting point though. At the moment I have three loops playing in SO with different Pianotech instruments, picking out the best of each piano sound / tone for each loop. I must go back to that and finish the experiment!

I accomplish this by running multiple VST Pianoteq instruments in Presonus Studio One Pro... usually a grand piano and an electric... but I could just as easily play 20 Pianoteq instruments simultaneously in this fashion.

Dear Modartt. Could you please add nice function - play on the two presents at the same time?

All digital pianos has this function (even the cheapest). For Kawai for example I love how sounds mix SK-5 + EX samples.
