Yes the problem was that I could not figure how to reproduce that issue. It happens when you go into a sub-menu of the standalone , for example "file/recent midi files"

We have updated the v305 for windows, the bug should be gone (latest windows version should display : v3.0.5/20090805)

Regarding the midi file player will we fix that later -- however it is not at all a problem that it keeps going, no leak or whatever.

True, during playing it should stop upon the end of the file (the timer, that is).

During recording, the user is the only one who should be able to stop it. How about a quick fix of that for 3.06?

Oh, and while we are at it, here's another problem:

After you play a midi file in the standalone, the player (the timer) just keeps going, even when the song is over. I am not sure if this could be a problem (memory leak?), but can't it stop automatically, or is it some kind of feature that is ill-presented?

You had made a small change to version 3.04 for me which solved the problem, and now I need the same assistance for 3.05.
I usually use Pianoteq in conjunction with Goldwave (wave editor) and using Alt/Tab, to go from Pianoteq to Goldwave, always leaves the Pianoteq screen over top of the Goldwave screen. The only way I can hide the PT screen is by minimizing PT.

I have the exact problem... Not a huge one, mind you. But sure can be annoying.

Just for reference: with my current standalone configuration, I'm running the Chopin Waltz, Op.70-1, and getting 16-20% usage at 96kHz and 128 samples, with the internal sample rate at 48kHz. (Performance index = 25, polyphony = 256)

Today I updated from 3.0.4 to 3.0.5 (released on 28/7/09) Linux 32bit, platform eeepc 901 netbook. I played with Grand C3 Solo (most demanding) a little and feel no difference. My original post mistakenly overstated the cpu load used by the new iteration. I've corrected it now--I'm rarely getting more than a 49% hit on the cpu running at 44100, and that's only when trying to cause problems by banging chords.

I had noticed about a 7-10% increase in reported usage on the piano models (especially the C3s), and they ramped up more steeply with higher polyphony -- glad to see things are "back to the future!"

(I was feeling suspiciously like I was in 2.3 land again. ;^)

I don't know what changes were made, but this new revision that you released yesterday (7\28\09) gives me a very noticeable improvement in performance. With the previous iteration, my system sometimes locked up when polyphony was high. With this new iteration of 7/28 I'm only very rarely going above 48% demand on the cpu when playing series of big, sustained chords and never locking up. Huge difference. Thanks so much.
