Sorry to hijack the thread, everyone, but as I'm about to pony up for a new i7/12GB system, I wondered if there was anyone else who has problems with PTQ on i7 with more than 3GB of RAM? In my case things would be slightly different as it will be a bare-metal build with 12GB installed.

I will file a tech support ticket, after I've had a bit of time to research a bit further:

I actually had changed my RAM from 3 GB to 6 GB (i7 based computer), and then I thought of reverting to 3 GB, which stoped all of the problems. Now between projects and study, I've not had time to reinstall the 'lost RAM' to see if the problem will happen again, but I will certainly let you know.

I had the same (or similiar) problem. After installing PianoTEQ 64bit version on Vista 64bit, it worked perfectly - - untill - - I rebooted the system, then I got the BSOD! The only solution was to uninstall PianoTEQ in "SafeMode" then reboot again. Now the system is back to normal. But I don't have PianoTeq! This is a sad problem as PianoTeq is one of my favorite plug-ins.

BTW - I was running it in stand-alone-mode as I haven't installed any DAW software yet.

So should I try installing PianoTeq 32-bit version? Would this be worth my time?

If that fails, probably reinstalling the system will be the best solution.

But, before that, get a digital camera, and please take a picture of that BSOD and upload it here. It might show some additional info.

Ok,

I've got this weird problem really.

I moved my computer to a new location (around half a mile away, not any real distance), and I got some minor issues. Mainly the integraded soundcard (Soundmax) was no longer working and I had to update the driver. All of a sudden.

I didn't mind, since I have a serious soundcard on board, which works fine, and I can hear everything perfectly!

But when I tried opening pianoteq (always my first choice to try things, play, etc), I got the blue screen of death and windows shut down. Tried the 64 bit version, the same. I left it for a while, opened winamp to try it out, worked fine. THEN I tried pianoteq again, and it worked fine.

So it seems that something is stoping pianoteq from working, if run first.

But that's not all.

I CAN'T use pianoteq inside Cubase 5. It was working fine before, absolutely no issues, but now I get the same blue screen I did, after the move.

Do you have any idea what's wrong?

I will go to have check the rest of my software, but as far as I can tell everything else seems to be working fine. I'm also going to try and reinstall the SoundMax integraded audio solution thingy...
