Yes I have the Standard version.  I'd rather not alter each note volume as I recall having this problem before.  Its as if the dynamic setting is affecting different sections of the keyboard.  I'll check the midi values.

As a precaution, against erroneous MIDI messages possibly sent to the software from the connected keyboard, you may need to select both Minimalistic for your Global MIDI Mapping and Standard MIDI for your Dialect under MIDI and under Options and do a reset on the connected keyboard, reset to a default general MIDI setting (that is) without any Yamaha XG.

Inside PIANOTEQ, if after you’ve loaded and played a standard MIDI file, one which you’ve already heard played on the keyboard or within a DAW, and, without any issues, you discover it plays as expected, you may assume your problem exists outside the software, but likely in hardware, such as computer setups, interfaces, cords, and the keyboard itself.

Maybe test the standard MIDI file with an unmodified PIANOTEQ preset —without an italicized preset name— as modified presets can use erroneous keyboard messages that effectively might alter the piano performance from the file without your knowing.

If you start a piano performance your own piano playing at your keyboard and with an unmodified preset but find at the end of your playing the preset was modified —via italics showing— you’ve erroneous messages from somewhere within your signal chain.

It might help to know what keyboard you are using exactly.  It could be something as straightforward as the keys been poorly calibrated or a poor implementation of synthetic grading effects.

If you have the facility to check the velocity number (reported in pianoteq MIDI options window) against reasonably precise inputs on different keys you may be able to check for a keyboard issue as opposed to a Pianoteq issue.

However if  I play the PTQ keyboard the volume is painfully high.

That on-screen keyboard has no volume (dynamic) control so it just thumps out a full volume MIDI note.

It depends on the position of the mouse on the key, the closer to the edge of the key you click, the more powerfull is the sound

My keyboard is a Yamaha Tyros 5, 76key. I had planned to buy a vpc1 but bought a Bluethner acoustic hence my absence from playing ptq and the Tyros.

Please, keep us informed. I have the same problem.

One of the other strange issues is that of the volume difference between playing my controller keyboard versus the onscreen keyboard.   With my Audient iD44 USB interface sending analog to my mixer at -6db max level the output volume from the mixer is fine.   However if  I play the PTQ keyboard the volume is painfully high.

That, and sometimes adjusting mic position or which preset you're using can make PTQ sound more even across the instrument.  EQ in any version can also help.

I'll keep trying to fix as way back I had the same setup sounding great.

Double-click the master volume slider and you can adjust volume per key, if you have at least Pianoteq Standard.
