Amen:

I stole, no--borrowed---your Steinway B preset and made some adjustments to the Resonance settings--essentially I raised the amplitude of the freq's around the midrange.

mp3: https://forum.modartt.com/download.php?id=3771
fxp: https://forum.modartt.com/file/c2t0c1kb
MIDI file: https://forum.modartt.com/uploads.php?f...t-beta.mid

This MIDI file was on my hard disk. I know not whence it came. If someone created it, and wants it taken down from the site, please let me know and I will remove it.

One small worry that I have with the EQ interface that is now magnified with the addition of the Resonance controls.: Because of the way that the freq chart displays above the keyboard, inexperienced users might believe that raising a freq or duration marker above a certain key is changing the amplitude or duration of that key or region's resonance. It would be nice if there was a way to display the freqs so that they matched up with the fundamentals of the notes on the keyboard, so that just above the A above middle C, the freq read 440. Of course, that can't quite work out if the full freq range is to be given on the screen.

Sounds very good, Amen. Thanks for creating and posting that. The Steinway B seems to open up a bit, and to have a wider timbral range, using your fxp.

I sense that we are at the start of a long, interesting path in exploring how these two new settings interact with other settings--the sympathetic resonance, the impedence, mic types and placement, and more.

Jake, I read your earlier post. As well I listened to and downloaded the preset therein, your earlier one.

New features seem to permit increased variations and even personal interpretations on the models, equally. They do with any of the models!

While I was trying out the features on the Steinway B Under Lid preset, I got an idea to experiment also with Doug McKenzie's MIDI file of the song "When I Fall in Love." It happened just shortly right after you had posted the MIDI.

As I listened to our versions, yours and mine, I became acutely aware users have a lot of freedom now to make their own decisions about interesting ways a MIDI file might sound just from the new parameter additions.

Certainly like you indicate, jazz in particular can benefit since it has often been recorded in smoke filled venues (where you as a listener are close to a piano performer and therefore hear piano resonances upfront).

Dough Makenzie's When I Fall in Love MIDI Performance
https://forum.modartt.com/file/4ekojezp

This may sound better. Used the AKG C-414's, and made other changes. This version has a Roman numeral II at the end of the name. I almost put this under the topic I posted earlier, but thought that people might not see the new version, which often sounds better:

mp3: https://forum.modartt.com/download.php?id=3764

fxp: https://forum.modartt.com/file/c8q3n5e5

The final notes still worry me a bit. A little TOO shimmery? Need to extend the damping time a little, too, given the abrupt damping at the very end.
