It’s a week since my Hornpipe. Six days, and now La Rejouissance from Music for the Royal Fireworks (HWV 351) G.F. Händel 1685 - 1759. One of my favorite pieces by Handel, La Rejouissance. It’s to me so festive, wonderful, moving…. I think the problem with Händel and Bach is to find good arrangements suitable for organ.

Fireworks, well it was. In the middle of the show the right pavillon caught fire. Also, a woman's clothes were set on alight by a stray rocket and other fireworks burned two soldiers and blinded a third. Yet another soldier had blown his hand off during an earlier rehearsal for the 101 cannons which were used during the event( Wikipedia).
Arrangement by Marcus Torén, swedish organist, from the book Lux Festiva, 2016. All these Händel pieces I listen with headphones.
I think It's such an incredibly festive atmosphere in this music - I can imagine Händel and the big orchestra, King George ll and - then the fire……
Enjoy!

https://youtu.be/xgYExwWHfkU
