Thanks, I'll take a look at the 3 examples more closely & may the Aten illuminate me... Hopefully the individual note overtones won't be a show stopper... Can't afford Pro just yet

Daily practice. I’ve been using Pianoteq since 2007. Whenever I use it, I’m constantly learning something new.

Pianoteq workshops are of course where you can learn to match your preset sound to that of an actual piano recording, whether or not it’s from a sample itself.

Yes indeed, pretty much all in the instrument packages, and downloaded most if not all that's available in FXP corner and compared them to splendid grand for similarity. For those that were most comparable I checked the spectra on specific notes for differences, but somehow it's seems to me modifying EQs is not sufficient hence the need for some advice as what can be done, and how to go about it, if it's at all possible...

Pianoteq Newbie with Preset Question

Spurred on by Phil Best’s demos I was finally able to afford the Pianoteq Standard (Steinway D, C. Backstein DG and the YC5). Prior to Pianoteq I tried many free sampled pianos but always ended up using the 256 MB Akai Splendid Grand SF2 & SFZ, which I believe is a multisampled Steinway, which one I know not. Despite the shortcomings, such as abrupt transitions in some velocity layers etc., I still really like the tone. So the question is, how to create a Steinway preset, if possible with the standard, that approximates the tone & action of the Splendid Grand? Any suggestions or advice would be welcome.
