At a minimum , you need to be able to generate multiple curves, concave, convex, s-shapes .

[2. An extern velocity editor provides more refined velocity curves even per tone. This is possible with Velpro.
Works perfectly with your keyboard and the GrandArtist App. It creates your own curve for your MIDI keyboard with Velpro.]

Unfortunately I suppose it won't work ( unless I missed an option as it was the test version that I used) because Grand Artist doesn't offer the possibility to select midi inputs therefore it will capture all midi inputs which means you are going to capture the original midi controller midi input + the midi output going out of Velpro application, so you will end up with 2 pianos in parallel with different velocities.

[3. Velocity adjustment in a DAW like Logic Pro.: Select the Velocity Processor in your track channel to adjust.]

I don't think I will work either as Velocity Processor is a Midi FX plug in and doesn't work with audio tracks, only with midi tracks. So Grand Artist will need to exist as a VST passing midi data to Logic Pro, so Midi FX plugins can work

4 [Recording solutions] It will work but again you expect the fonctionnality to work either natively within a DAW or the UI without the need to have a third party application or aggregate devices using virtual output devices.

The idea is that you have a selection of sounds good for live, and these only have a few adjustments for eq, reverb and compression levels. Probably what you want in a live performance. My problem here is that since 8.1 came out for the iPad, I generally use Pianoteq on my iPad for live performance, and on my laptop for recording and studio use. I hope this is only for the trial version , otherwise it just a few fundamental flaw
(3) no option to save any changes you make to the very little adjustments which come with the software ( maybe a limitation of the trIal version)

The only limitations in the trial version are that a few notes are disabled and it stops after 20 minutes (but still you can start it again). You can in particular use the VST or AU version in a DAW, as well as record and export midi and audio files. Regarding velocity, this is keyboard dependant, and many users here have provided specific velocity curves, see https://forum.modartt.com/viewforum.php?id=10. Hope it helps!

Hi Philippe , I think you are referring to pianoteq itself , but what we are talking about here is a standalone application called grandartist built in top of pianoteq which comes with its own interface and this interface basically only works in standalone mode and bypass all pianoteq adjustments, leaving only the end user with reverb , EQ , and compression, minimum adjustments. In a way , it’s like using pianoteq engine as a white label platform .

For me the sounds are great but more options to do small changes is needed. I also believe the VST or AU is required (not available in the full version either at the moment) but there's a way to actually record the sound, create an external instrument with audio input 3-4 and then, record in an audio track with audio input 3-4 (with no output initially to avoid to listen the two instruments at the same time) and you have the audio recorded with grandartist reading the midi from the external instrument. IMO it seems weird that you would give up great PTQ standalone app to host it in other app if that other app does not clearly give much more. On the contrary I read that even velocity curves aren’t there.

If it’s just (good/excellent/marvellous) presets why don’t they sell just them?
