Ive been using Logic for quite some time...
but AU's are new to me.

In this case you need to change the AU's automation mode in Logic. This is just above the pan control in the Logic channel strip for the instrument. Its probably set to "read" now meaning that Logic plays back its existing control data -- of which you haven't got any yet -- to the instrument. You can change this to "touch" or "latch" to have Logic record any changes. Googling "logic automation modes" will then fill you in on the differences between these modes and the other modes available.

Recording Pianoteq sustain in Logic

I would like to purchase the stage version of Pianoteq but I recently tried the demo out in Logic Pro X and when I recorded some piano, the sustain used through Pianoteq was not recorded in Logic Pro x. Just the midi signals. I'm guessing none of the other effects in the Pianoteq AU interface will record either. I know this is probably a relatively easy fix, but I have never used AU's in Logic and don't really know where to find this information, thought I'd try here!
