Thanks for the reply. The problem is that the N1 doesn't have USB to host so I need to use the regular MIDI-connectors. So my question really is if I will get more latency by using the Apogee interface plus a MIDI-to-USB cable/interface than with an audio interface with integrated MIDI?

This is the one I use. I've tried both methods ( usb to usb and usb to midi) and to be honest, I don't notice any difference whatsoever. They'll undoubtedly be a difference but I think it will be a matter of milliseconds!!! The emu Xmidi 1x1 comes in two forms, Xmidi and Xmidi tab. I'd go for the Xmidi rather than the Xmidi tab as the Xmidi shows led indicators when connected and when midi signals are passing through whereas the Xmidi tab seems to be a slimmed down cost cutting option. I have the Xmidi and have never had any issues with it. It is well built and very good quality.

I just purchased the Apogee element 46 audio interface and I aiming to use it with my Yamaha N1 together with Pianoteq. Although the Apogee interface is very fast with low latency, the downside is that it doesn't have any midi connectors built in. My question is if this is a drawback according to latency and if it would be better to get an interface with built in Midi connectors or will it work just as good to get a separate midi-USB cable/interface?

I use a good MIDI-USB interface (EMU Xmidi 1in 1out) with no trouble whatsoever. I have a Focusrite Scarlett Solo (Gen. 2) USB audio interface.
