Yeah, lol, good point M. I've tried a lot of bad home pianos - but a reasonably well tuned one isn't too uncommon - maybe that's just because I'm gettin' oooold.

At my age, I'm not going to be artistically satisfied with a noticeably poorly maintained instrument, unless it's for a certain song (vibe), or maybe a 6 month experiment.. like picking up a wrecked guitar, you'll find something horrible or glorious that it does - I'd maybe be interested to record something of it (like capturing its soul) - but to play each day, I'd prefer a good piano in Pianoteq (with my own tweaks) so I can always feel that I'm reaching, to get beyond my own skills, improve and all that - but that's not everyone's heaven.

Mainly I want to feel like I'm playing the piano of my desires - not the piano of my nightmares

Yuri, the DP and AP in the recording is good to hear.. I heard a chair squeak in the AP recording - and lots more noise

I think the 'condition slider' and the 'Unison Width' sliders are the 2 best to make almost any default Pianoteq piano more home-like in that vein, cheers.

Hey Yuri,

glad to read that - definitely nothing is in vain with Pianoteq - I find that it can do anything I want in recording it.

There's a lot more to uncover in the interface - too much to list but the manual is pretty detailed and well laid out and one I recommend reading.

Try right-clicking on some of the controls to find extra settings and type in exact numbers instead of just sliding the controls - One example is to right-click that "Condition" slider itself to reveal that you can type in a different random seed number - so that different things happen to the condition

With Pianoteq Pro, you could be able to do as much tweaking as you need - it will take time and some focus to get to know all the tools, there are so many. Time worth taking.

Consider what MaliceX mentioned about the diff between grand and upright pianos - you can use the Pianoteq U4 upright piano to make a great home piano.. check out the user-made presets (FXP files you can load) on the Pianoteq FXP Corner forum.

Look for the ones using the U4 upright, and maybe the recent ones by forum user "bm" who has really gone to commendable efforts to model the U4 to his own Schimmel real piano at home. I made a variant of this which works well for my purposes - there's a world of user built piano presets to try there

I was prompted by setting the Condition in the piano library - it’s right there under the pedals - it just allows you to set the status of the instrument ... In principle, what I need! But somehow I didn’t notice it - it’s well disguised!
