There's no down side to buying Stage, Standard or Pro first. The price you already paid for them will be deducted from the Studio Bundle price.

You can upgrade easily. The Studio Bundle is like Pro plus all instruments (+ all instruments for the following year free). My upgrade was smooth.

Best value, to keep you occupied and fulfilled until you can upgrade to Studio, if you're itching to get started, I'd recommend to purchase Pro so you can start out with 4 free instruments (as well as all the free ones) - a good variety while you await the big day. That said, Standard has 3, Stage has 2 - so whichever tides you over, you could still upgrade without losing out by much by purchasing below Pro.

Modartt don't seem to run many sales but end of year may typically be a sale. Only Modartt will know their plans for the coming year, so that theoretically could be a good time to aim for the Studio upgrade date perhaps?

Remember Studio's already saving around 40% in the loose calcs I posted above. So, I think of that as beating any strategy of sniping the sales prices for the instrument collection over time by a big margin

This is the same question I came here to ask, but I'm not sure I understand the answers already given, sorry!

Basically, I don't yet own any pianoteq license, but I've been trying out the demo and I love it. I think I'll eventually want all or most of the instrument packs, but I don't know whether that means that I need to hold off from buying any license until I can afford Studio, or whether there's a way to buy Standard or Pro now and upgrade to Studio without having to pay the full cost of Studio on top of whatever I pay for Standard or Pro.

Alternatively, do the instrument packs regularly go on sale in such a way that I could top up Standard or Pro with most of them for around the cost of the difference between Standard/Pro and Studio?

IIRC the amounts you already paid for Pianoteq Pro and any Pianoteq instrument packs gets deducted from your total when buying Pianoteq Studio Bundle.

@ Modartt folks, please correct if I'm mistaken in anything.

If your cart doesn't reflect your earlier purchase of Pro and instruments, try first logging in to your Pianoteq user account area, then go through the cart up to before the point of purchase, to see if it shows the discount.

If in doubt, delete cart before hitting purchase of course and contact Pianoteq support.

Overall, if you buy the Pianoteq Studio Bundle, it equates to:

(some customers will of course luck out and get more than a few if many are released in that year - up to us to decide when to time it, and nobody can tell in advance, ain't life like that?.

When you add all that up it's something near 40% off (give or take for timing, currency conversions, any specials on certain instrument packs) - a steep discount better than any recent 30% off deals.

For illustration, if you take out complexities of upgrading from Pro, and say you just bought Pianoteq Studio Bundle, here's how it adds up (quick maths):

Pro = 369 Euros.

Adding up the cost of all 20 instruments packs by themselves, that's currently 20 packs x 49 Euros = 980 EU (total of 39 extant instruments, not to mention the free ones, see chart below).

So, if you next add up the cost of Pro PLUS all instruments, it's currently 1349 Euros.

TOTAL today = 1349 you would need to pay as a Pianoteq Pro owner to have all Pianoteq instruments without a sale, in Euros.

So, Studio, bought at 799 EU, is a saving of:

550 Euros off.

What is that, near 40% off? Better than the sales.

So, if getting Studio, you get that 980 EU worth of instrument packs (39 instruments if I added them up correctly) AND Pianoteq Pro PLUS a year's worth of any new released instruments AND no cost upgrade to version 7 IF it happens within this first year also.

For my money, it was the best expenditure I've made to my music tools (several upgrades in my path over the years - and Modartt has looked after my transactions and always been greatly helpful) - I can't speak highly enough of this product and people behind the company (though I speak well of it often - praise that's well deserved IMO).

(There's also a good number of free instruments not mentioned above in case new customers are wondering, including Organteq Alpha).

Any way you mix it, we get amazing value and extraordinary products, the tiers make sense in balance and Studio really does give the best value if the goal is to collect the library.

If not used to software upgrade paths, maybe demo until you're happy to know you want all the instruments then buy Studio on the first pass I would recommend that though because it's what I would do if I had my time over again.

By the way, anyone buying Studio today, will get many more free instruments than I got those years back (I never will begrudge new customers gaining greater benefit than myself - it's the way the world moves).. time therefore makes this offer to always improve.

During July's discounts, I considered buying two more instruments several times, but ended up not doing it.
If purchasing *all* instruments were a discounted option for me, I would probably do so (and of course that such an option should consider the fact that I had already purchased two of them).

This is just a thought of mine I thought is better if brought to the attention of Pianoteq's people..
Not sure to how many Pianoteq users share this situation..
