I just went through a lot of hub research. I finally decided to order the Startech 7-port USB 3.0 Hub - ST7300U3M after reading several positive reviews about it on different forums and customer feedback. I'm expecting delivery in a couple of days. This is a more expensive hub but it is built well and made of metal. One of my primary concerns was I am using this in a recording environment and some hubs will introduce noise through it's power supply (needed a powered hub). From what I read, this hub doesn't introduce noise.

I use an Anker powered USB 3.0 hub that works well - no noticeable latency or dropped data. Hooked up to: Roland FP30 + Go Piano + iPad + Mouse

I also have a 2nd USB port in my laptop that runs on it’s own bus - hooked up to a USB Audio Interface.

Thank you for the response.
Based on your reply I'm testing the same hub, but with external power supply connected. So far no change in behavior so i changed 2 things: disabled usb3 to improve compatibility with my usb2 devices and I moved the sound card from the hub to a dedicated USB port, now only the slowest devices are plugged into the hub. I'll test this extensively and report back if this helped.
Ik never heard of the pluggable brand, but the products look good to me, so I my current attempts are unsuccessful I'll order one of those.

It's best to have a hub that is powered by an adapter, not bus powered. Plugable makes great USB hubs. This is the one I have and it's been great:

That one has 4 ports, but they make others with more, and even have some USB 3.O products.

Lately I'm experiencing some latency issues, it's not all the time, just a single note or chord now and then.
It's happening on at least two of my setups, different hardware, and I suspect that my USB hubs are to blame.
I have a bunch of cheap hubs that serve me well, but I wonder if they might not be suited for demanding audio applications.

So I'm looking for advice and experiences with good hubs.
