CPU is still way to high .. but at least it is playable now... was really low in 5 version.. I’ll keep that version in my laptop just in case.

Pianoteq sounds superb in 6.5. Maybe your audio buffer is a bit too keen (to an unnecessary degree) for the latest version and your CPU?

Try a slight increase in the the audio buffer size under devices. Try increasing it until the problem disappears.

This happened to me too with Pianoteq 6.5.2 / OS X 10.13.6 (Patched) on MacBook Pro mid2009@2.8GHz.

I made sure everything that could affect performance (e.g. Spotlight) was not running, but it didn't work.
It couldn't even handle 10 voices.

Now I tested 6.5.3, but it didn't look great either.
The "Audio load" graph under the CPU tab of the settings gets filled with red dots and lines; this does not happen on 6.4.1, where I can do a full-range glissando without a glitch.

I haven't used 6.5.0 and 6.5.1, but I suspect it's Pianoteq 6.5.x's problem.
Maybe the thing about CPU requirements in the version history is related.

I guess I have to keep using 6.4.1 on old Macs.

[Edit: I see there are already a number of posts about 6.5's performance in other threads. Looks like 6.4.1 is indeed the only way for me.]

Yay...this latest version made CPU usage manageable again... now I can get on with my life!!

Says I am not allowed to access ... At least Pianoteq 5 is playable for now on my laptop... I'll look into a newer computer soon if I have to

One thing that also might be a problem is your settings file.
On my odroid-xu4 it got corrupted, but Pianoteq still worked.
I found out it was bad because some pianos sounded terrible.
I got rid of the settings file and reactivated my license.
Problem solved.

Thanks good idea... but how do I go back? 6.5 worked perfect... I think I played 6.5.1 when I first loaded and was fine...

So no luck...got rid of so much stuff on the computer... tried Addictive Piano I have on it and played fine... then tried Pianoteq 5 I still have on it and was fine... So latest Pianoteq 6.5.1 is what is sucking up all the CPU... when I switch to 8 note polyphony it will play without shutting down..of course,,, interesting

It worked fine the other day with most recent upgrade so no version change... I’ll try the finder disable later...
