Furthermore, what I did was that I downloaded all the recordings of all the pianos, and saved every piano in a dedicated directory.
Then I listened to the pianos. To make the process easier, I selected a few music pieces for every piano that I especially liked (for instance, because it covered a large frequency range and had a lot of dynamics (from pp to ff)), and listened while feeling which sound I liked most. This way, I could focus 100% on the sound, without having part of my awareness on how to play.
I chose Steinway D and Blüthner. But of course, you can end up with a completely different choice.

Haha, as Chasmanian says, you may end up getting quite a few of them . The demo is your best friend here. Take your time deciding, just as you would if you were shopping for an acoustic piano.

The C. Bechstein is the most realistic, at least as compared to my acoustic upright. The Steinway B is the best 'home-sized' piano (especially if you have a big home, but not big enough for a 9 footer), and I am partial to Steinways, so the sound of the D's singing top end, especially when blended with the D's warm and enveloping bass, is just comforting. Kind of like bread pudding, or risotto.

Yes, do try the KVir instruments when you have the full version. If you are open to 'vintage' sounding pianos there are some real treasures in that collection. For instance, have a listen to George Tingley's Valse Triste (in the Recordings section), played on the 1922 Erard.

Thank you chasmanian! I 've been trying the demo version for quite a bit now, to be more precise I can't decide if I should buy the steingraeber or the upright. I m playing mostly blues at the moment and I m not quite sure if the free kvir instruments are 'enough grand' for my purpose, so I could just get the upright and electrics and play the historical instruments if I want to play some easy classic pieces. I just cannot tell because they are not usable in the demo. I guess I'll just have to try when buying

I am not sure, but I'm guessing that you have to pick during the buying process.

just a helpful suggestion: try the free demo.
play in the key of C. all the white notes are in. (and none are disabled.)
try out some grand pianos.
and pick one.

Hello!

I have a question regarding the instrument packs you get when buying pianoteq.
I' d like to buy pianoteq stage and want to get the electric pianos but am not quite sure already, which grand piano I want to choose. Do I have to pick the two instrument packs provided with the stage version in the buying-process or is it possible to add the second instrument later?
I couldn't find an answer in the faqs or with the search- function.
