For your information, Plugin-Alliance is having a Mega Sale offering as much as a whole 95% off regular prices! Numerous plugins are on sale at Plugin-Alliance including Vertigo VSC-2 and elysia Phil’s Cascade. Vertigo VSC-2 is available separately and as part of a bundle. I just got it in the bundle; which includes bx_limiter, what I consider also a good limiter (that is) for classical and jazz music. Regularly, Vertigo VSC-2 sells for $299. I just got it along with the other plugins included in the Plugin-Alliance Mastering Bundle 1 for a whopping $69 total!

The last day of the sale is April 7th.

Check it out: https://www.plugin-alliance.com.

Per my edit, I just changed “95% of” to “95% off.”

Say George, had you tried the Pianoteq limiter, because it you can modify from a cursory option-click to the Limiter switch on the Pianoteq interface! Though maybe intended primarily for both your practice and performance, it combined with the compressor (the other processor) on the interface, does produce clearly a processed sound. By which you experiment!

Although, I personally feel the Pianoteq interface is a bit misleading; it has the compressor listed under EFFECTS when it is technically an audio processor, unlike the reverb and the delay that indeed are both effects! However pretty, a beautifully elegant layout in my view, it was designed with simplicity favored, obviously.

You know if you post your before and after versions instead of just your last, others of course may give their input, as well as I.

By a good limiter, I mean maybe use one good for the details, the apparent nuances of an acoustic instrument. I’ve just made a list suggesting a couple which apparently preserve acoustic instrument timbre, or, even highlight it to some degree, along with another plugin suggestion that can make the timbre appear brought forward:

Oxford Limiter from Sonnox, https://www.sonnox.com/plugin/oxford-limiter-v3;

Vertigo VSC-2 from Plugin-Alliance, https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/prod...vsc-2.html.

elysia Phil’s Cascade from Plugin-Alliance, https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/prod...scade.html.

Please try some demos, once you’ve listened to a few plugin audio examples, those of vocals and acoustic instruments, especially.

Now about your above latest audio take, it appears the soft equalizer that took away the high edge (character) also ramped up the bass too much to exhort a sence of refreshing cool anymore. Perhaps you’ll want just to tame the highs as an alternative to your removing them, completely, from your wonderful previous instrument recording. To me, the character flaws the imperfections that were presented in your original effort became inconsequential to your last.

Let me stress you want the limiter good enough to bring your listener’s attention to the inherent imperfections characteristic of your chosen acoustic instrument —and even through professional polish, if ever added by the limiter itself.

Indeed, either one of the two (2) limiters just suggested by me is a fine example of a good limiter (that is) remarkably capable of all the professional polish —and some details as well!
