There are simulator rooms among these plug-ins, where you can specify the ratio of the size of the walls and the number of reflections. So there is an interesting property in it - the Doppler effect occurs when sources are moved in space. Maybe in this you can search for ideas for the realization of space in Pianoteq?

It seems that the Doppler effect is a feature of the method of rendering the sound field, and not a specially introduced property. And, perhaps, this may be more natural for spatial perception. At the same time, it does not take much processor resources.

Just spent a little while last night testing a fairly simple setup using 2 channel output from Pianoteq into O3A Panner (from blueripplesound.com) and the results were quite encouraging. Definitely worthy of further investigation.

I think I'll try it with 3rd order (16 channels) as I'm not sure I can get my head around working with 64 channels (and I don't know how well my computer would cope).

From Pianoteq out 5 channels. They are encoded in ambiosonic multi-encoder in 64 channels. Then you can use the plugin reverb(from IEM) or double delay (also quite spatially interesting plugin). To listen with headphones you need to decode in 2 channels. This is only for headphones. To output to the stereo speakers, you must use another plugin from the free package from

There is a 3rd order ambisonic, but the convolution file is used in the reverb. I think this is very tempting. IEM also has a tempting room simulation plugin. Worth studying. I just started trying to figure it out. Very interesting!

Understand is not so difficult. Complicating the situation is that this is not one plugin, but several..encoders, decoders..and you need to follow the correct sequence .. In the evening I will describe in more detail how this can be done.

There is a group of interesting and free plugins for working with Ambisonic:

I use them in Reaper, because this host supports 64 channels, which is necessary for 7th order ambisonic.
Plugins allow you to create an interesting sense of space. I give an example: (I used excerpt from midi Jake Johnson - NewOrleans.mid)

Just Pianoteq (preset sweet, reverb is turned off, delays are turned off and equalizers are turned off)

A simple example with two microphones. It is very interesting to experiment with 5 microphones. You can get a sense of sound in front, behind, on top .. among these plug-ins there is a good spatial reverb. It sounds pretty nice. The ambisonic method is pretty curious.
