:-) Could be a bit tricky to find the bits I want in the one single big file ...

Many thanks for your advice that solution works really well, and the beauty is that I can double click and open the midi editor piano window & clearly see where I am hitting notes relative to the beat.

One of the reasons I wanted to keep it in the Pianoteq app was also because everything gets autorecorded, archived and the filenames autosaved with the date /time in the title datestamped.

Do you know if it's possible to do the same in Reaper?

Reaper is not really THAT complicated for the most part... Here's what you could do in it. Create an empty track, then in the menu bar go Insert->Click source. Now you got a metronome item right on the track, you can extend it however much you want, and it will play back just like a metronome would. But it will also follow any project tempo changes, so you can hear where you're going off very easily.

That really wasn't that complicated, right?

(BTW, right-clicking the metronome button in top left of Reaper's interface gives you various metronome options, for example how should beats be accented etc.)

Hello everyone,
I've been using Pianoteq from the start of the year - and it's really great! Not least because of the Midi recorder, which I find really helpful in going back and finding my weak areas by listening to all those midi files that get automatically recorded.

I really need to look at my rhythm problems, so it's great to use the metronome. I know from browsing these forums that it's not possible to record the metronome into the midi file currently (it would be great if this could be done in the future).

So I was wondering if there might be any workarounds (external programs maybe) that might anyone might have thought of?

I do have a registered copy of Reaper DAW (which I find really complicated to use), but I find it so convenient to be using The Pianoteq standalone program.

Any ideas on this? I would really like to be able to slow down my midi records and hear where I'm making my timing errors.

I'm running Pianoteq on a PC with midi input from my Yamaha YDP-163 (Pianoteq sounds SO much better than the internal yamaha piano voices).
