Maybe "sound recording" output is more suitable for integrating the piano in an orchestra mix.
But in my opinion "stereophonic" sounds better for solo piano.

Yes, I will definitely be saving some of my presets in Stereo mode. Top of the list will be Bechstein DG Venue, and I will try the settings suggested by dklein. Thanks!

When I open a Pianoteq preset the first thing I do is setting the output to Stereophonic. Then I save it as a new preset and create a Reaper track template with it.

Yes, indeed... I always forget about Stereo output and then use it for a while again. For my 'Player' setup, used with the Reverb Off, it's frequently more like my real piano than even two-mic Player setups, but sometimes a bit too 'buried in the box' than the presence of a real piano would be. The Steinway D is like this, while Stereo with the Model B on Improv is perfectly lovely and quite realistic on my home setup. Others that sound good on "Stereo" include the C. Bechstein on Player, Ant Petrof Under Lid, Steingraeber Warm, K2 Close Mic Fig8, and Erard 1922 (Player).

As always, fascinating musical content!
Interesting that you used the Stereo output for this, it's a completely different sound to the Sound Recording setting (I much prefer it, in this case). It will encourage me to try Stereo for other pianos too.
