Get a smaller Focusrite Scarlett or Audient audio interface.

- Pianoteq does not use a lot of RAM,
- You don't need bunch of gigas of storage neither, as it only needs ~60mb
- The only component you'll need to worry about is CPU. Last gen intel Core is fine, you can easily go with a i5.
- The soundcard is important too, if you don't want to have latency. The built-in audio chipset on motherboard is usually good enough to play quality sounds, but don't know about the latency with ASIO. I always worked with external sound cards.
- Does your Kawai ES8 have a USB output ? Or you'll have to plug it with MIDI cable ? Cause in this case, you'll need a midi <-> usb convertor to plug it in your laptop. Or an external sound card

What's your budget ?

The specs for the ES8 include this statement ….

Back-panel USB to Host ports connects to a computer or iPad

So, I can use that (with appropriate cable) for my midi connection to the laptop ?

Will that same cable send the output from the laptop back into the ES8 ?

Or do I have to connect an output port on the laptop (headphones) to my ES8 audio in port or to my mixer ?

As far as budget …. I have my eye on one for $149.    If that one will work, great.    Otherwise … $250 is about my max.
