Yes, I can see what Gaston is getting at. The auto-record in Pianoteq is a great benefit, however, it does come at a cost. At present, the preset settings are not embedded in the midi file when you use Pianoteq, and settings that may have sounded good for a particular session could be lost. In Reaper, you get all the settings recalled, but not the auto-record. It's catch-22!

Thank you both for your suggestions.
Cantabile: I have already practiced, for quite a long time.
This was the solution I had found to replace the retrospective recording of Cubase when I switched to Reaper.
But it is much more cumbersome to manage than the MIDI recorder embedded in Pianoteq.
Two tracks in the Daw, of course. This is what I do in the lack of a pure Pianoteq solution.
Anyway my playing in Pianoteq always end up in Reaper.
But with Pianoteq, when I stop playing it stops recording without me having to tell him.
If I hit Record in Reaper, either I decide to let it run, but it can last half an hour and I end up with a huge MIDI file, or I have to stop it manually, Reaper doesn't know when I have finished a phrase.

The idea of unsing 2 VST is indeed a solution, but why not a DAW instead of Cantabile?
There are plenty of them, including free ones, like GarageBand if you are on a Mac or Cakewalk (BandLab) if you are on Windows.
Just create 2 tracks, insert 2 instances, assign a different MIDI channel and press Record.

How about running the two instances as plug-ins (VST) in a Host such as Cantabile? Each instance on a difference MIDI channel. Then have Cantabile save the Input as a MIDI Recording, and you should have both instances present, each on its own channel.

But there is only one MIDI recorder for both instances.
Is there a way to have one recorder for each instance (and running simultaneously)?
