My 1.5 cents. I think this year rules are very good. A compromise between how it was done in the early competitions and the later ones. Without overly complicating it.

I believe there could be categories for voting, like given more than one vote according different aspects to judge.

Edition : Judge if the video it's well presented, edited, if have some nice effects.

Sound quality: Judge if the sound was well recorded, in case recorded live or in case of direct audio file from pianoteq.

Piano performance : Judge if the piano performance it's well done, especially for classic.

Creativity : Judge how inovative the idea of the video was.

Presantation and Narration : Judege if the video it's well presented and showing pianoteq features in one way, like direct, or in another (inderect).

Marketing appeal : Judge if the video hows pianoteq with a nice appeal to public, giving that feel of : "Woou, it looks and sounds nice, I'm interesting to try otr buy it."

2013 = 21
2014 = 30
2015 = 31
2016 = 39
2017 = 66

= 207/6 = 34,5

or with the years 2017 excluded = 141/5 = 28,2

not 15.

Yes, that 'final 15' rule was bound to be controversial, but I can understand the reasons for it. Last year there were a lot of entries that I liked, and I had to be really ruthless in my eliminations. This year, although I may well be disappointed if some of my favourites don't make it through, at least part of the process will have been done for me. You can bet that it won't be easy for the panel to agree on their shortlist, I don't envy them!

Well, there is often someone not satisfied or critical with things, no matter what we do. If I suggest, for example, that it should be a proportional voting (50% Modartt, 50% forum members), someone surely don’t like it either. We have different opinions and I respect yours. I wish you the best and hope that you take part in the contest again someday in the future.

Last year there were really many extremely good/outstanding videos. I would have ranked a fairly large number of videos much much higher. I think this is a good change in the voting rules. It was really difficult to fairly judge all entries last year. The limit - 15, 20, 30…well, Modartt team have probably been thinking of this a year, before making a decision.

Hello Niclas,
excuse me but I think 15 entries is too restrictive, the other years we have between 30 to 40 entries and it seems the votes are ok. You are rigth for the last year, 66 is too much but 15 too elitiste.

PIANOTEQ VIDEO CONTEST 2018 - INSTRUCTIONS

Time for our yearly video contest! Here you can show the world what you can do with Pianoteq 6 in front of the camera. At the same time, you will get a chance to win a value coupon of up to 400 € for purchasing Pianoteq products in our online store.

As from today until October 31, publish your own video on YouTube where you are using Pianoteq 6 (Stage, Standard or Pro version).
When your video is posted on Youtube, announce it here:

The contest is open to everyone. If you are not yet a registered Pianoteq user, you may use the latest trial version.

Participation rules:

Only one entry per contestant is allowed.
The video needs to be new, not published before September 26, 2018.
It needs to be clear on your video that you are using Pianoteq 6, either by showing the interface, talking about Pianoteq 6 or displaying Pianoteq 6 in text.
You are allowed to use other instruments or voices alongside Pianoteq if you want.
Deadline for participation is October 31, 2018, 23:59 CET (Central European Time).

Voting rules:

A jury, consisting of Modartt, will watch through all video entries and select 15 for public voting.
Public voting starts on November 7th and ends on November 17th.
Public voting is open to everybody.
Attempts to vote several times will disqualify the vote.
Everyone who participates in the public voting picks 3 entries in no particular order.
The winners will be announced on November 19th.

Prizes to win - value coupons, valid in our online store:
1st prize: 400 €
2nd prize: 300 €
3rd prize: 200 €
All remaining entries get: 20 €
