Well, if gigging, a mobile device should always be connected to a power source, anyways, not ran off batteries.

I was using a SurfaceBook until recently. There was a driver issue that would cause the CPU to spike and pianoteq to crackle whenever the machine queried the batteries in order to update the power readings. I had to disable the battery lookup, which meant I could never see how much portable power remained.

OK, even 2 GB RAM is enough (one of my PC's is also running PIanoteq with only 2 GB of RAM), but again: "not a lot". When you want to run some other VSTi's you quickly see the limits. But the CPU also plays its role, and the OS, and... everything else !
And again: just look at other comparable machines, branded under the Acer, Asus or Lenovo umbrella for example, there is plenty of (better IMHO) choice in this price range. Two years ago I bought a Toshiba "convertible" (13" touch screen, 360° foldable) for under 500 €. Except for the screen resolution (and the weight), it beats or equals the Surface on all aspects.

My 10 yo Acer has only 2GB RAM; it works without fault.

not at all. I have tried with the 8gb and the performance index is only 27. the perf. index in surface 3 is 21. so it's not a good improvement. the polyphony is so low that you can barely play with 2 hands and the pedal.

True. But it will suffice if it's just for using Pianoteq. Of course, it's not really that much for any serious multitasked work.

4 GB of RAM will be enough for W10 Pro and Pianoteq.

Hi ALL,

I am wondering if anyone tried the new MS Surface Go? Will it be sufficiently powerful enough to run the Pianoteq?
Planning to have a small PC to run Pianteq with my DP, but maybe Surface Go can be a good option too?
