Here, two pieces that we recorded today with the Steinway Model B to illustrate a new article on our website.

I believe that this piano is also an excellent choice for Gymnopedies and Gnossiennes thanks to its intimate character.

In this case, we looked for a sound that was both natural and dreamy. We only added a delay to make the sound a bit more magical.

https://soundcloud.com/modelling-audio-...view-satie

https://soundcloud.com/modelling-audio-...ew-rebikov

HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO FILES CAN BE DOWNLOADED HERE: http://modelling-audio-expert.com/stein...roduction/

Erard 1849 and 1922 are very suitable for Satie.

I also suggest you try Bechstein 1899 and Bluethner Model One… We have already made some very satisfying recording tests with these grand pianos.

I am doing a recording of the beautifully lyrical Gymnopedies and Gnossiennes. Any thought about which piano or pianos might be best to start with. I suspect that microphone positions, reverb, and EQ may be just as important as choice of piano. I am expecting to have a lot of fun comparing and contrasting options.
