Rather than a "louder" ding, might I suggest that the downbeat ding sound one octave higher than the rest? In this way, the downbeat may be distinguished immediately. Also, the octave-higher downbeat is heard better over the music being played by the piano.

Yes the Pianoteq metronome could be louder. I gave up on it after awhile because it was easily drowned out and I needed to practice more complicated rhythms.

Initially used an external metronome but switched to Metronomics app for the Mac:
1. it runs along side PTQ out through the speakers, so no need to use a mixer
2. tons of high quality sounds so i can highlight tricky beats
3. it has its own volume control so it’s easy to mix with PTQ (it’s actually too loud, I usually set it at the lowest volumej

So this may be more of a personal problem, but even with the metronome at full volume (+20dB) I have a very hard time distinguishing the accented tick on the first beat of a new measure while playing in Pianoteq with headphones on. It blends in with the rest of the ticks very closely and is drowned out by the sound of the piano. Would it be possible to add something more akin to a louder, more distinguishable *DING* sound?

I suppose I could just lower the piano volume dB every time I want to use the metronome but I would prefer this solution. I'm not suggesting you replace the accented tick entirely, but the option to switch between that and a *DING* would be nice. Again, just an idea. Thank you for the fantastic product!
