You're welcome! I can see that you're coming into Pianoteq from the world of sampled pianos, many of which have something like Light/Standard/Deluxe versions of their instruments. With Pianoteq, you effectively buy an instrument, and it's yours, just like a physical piano (but much less expensive ). Upgrading to Standard unlocks the services of a whole host of virtual piano technicians and studio engineers who can do amazing things to your pianos (changing tuning, importing IR files for reverb, etc., etc....).

You don't actually buy 'Stage pianos', the instruments themselves don't change at all as you upgrade. I think you're getting confused by the upgrade which says 'Upgrade version 1-5 to version 6' - that one's only if you have an old version of Pianoteq. The one you want is 'Upgrade Pianoteq Stage/Play... to Standard' (the second one on the list - it's 150 euro over here, so I guess $190 is about right), which will upgrade the whole program, with all the extra functionality applied to your existing instruments. It doesn't make any difference whether you buy extra pianos before or after the upgrade.

Hey, guys - Thanks for your responses but I still have some lingering questions.

What about the future? Will Stage pianos I purchase in the future automatically upgrade to Standard?
Or should I continue buying Stage pianos and eventually upgrade to Standard? I find the decision making - and economics - quite fascinating.

If I am thinking correctly, the $59 upgrade only upgrades single piano functionality.
Whereas the $190 upgrade, upgrades the funtionlaity of all Studio piano purchases
whether purchased in the past or in the future (or does it affect only past purchases?).

Ultimately, I am thinking it smarter to stock up on Stage pianos before making that upgrade -
if that's the way it actually works.

Thanks for your patience with this one.

George

I own several Stage pianos. Does purchasing the upgrade to Standard mean that each one will automatically upgrade or do I need to purchase an upgrade for each piano. Why are some of the individual upgrades listed as $59 while the general upgrade is listed at $190. I am totally clueless.
Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer.
