Nothing to worry about here. Read what CI means - it's basically a way of asking the device what it can do, MIDI-wise. If the MIDI device doesn't support CI, nothing happens, it continues to operate as it did. For newer devices that might use some newfangled specs, CI inquires if the receiving point also supports those newfangled specs, if there's no reply, nothing happens and the device reverts to MIDI 1.0 spec and all is good again.

So nothing's gonna change w.r.t. Pianoteq or any other MIDI capable device currently on the market... CI is basically future-proofing the standard and making sure even if some day some new devices that have new MIDI specs show up, they would still be able to interoperate with older MIDI gear.

Maybe someone more knowledgeable than me can tell by this article whether the new MIDI protocol has impact on MIDI controllers and software pianos.

I wonder if Pianoteq going to change because of that and then we all will have to buy new keyboards that can communicate with the new MIDI protocol.
