I never really cared much about different Grand Pianos, more Upright vrs. Extended keys as in Imperial Grand, etc.
But I played on a 5 foot Petrov doing an hour of Solo Piano before the show.
Right in the Foyer there sat this little Piano and I figured it would suck.

It had Deep round low end and was really bright, excellent sound, I couldn't stop playing it.
The owner then gave me a history lesson about Count Basie and others preferring this Piano for it's loudness in a full ensemble.
But as a solo Piano that little bugger was the best sounding acoustic I've played in years.

perhaps, but virtual preservation of historic instruments certainly seems to be part of Pianoteq's core misson (right in the first paragraph with the KIViR project and liason with museums) and, maybe, even part of its raison d'etre... ==> https://www.pianoteq.com/modartt . the existing historic instrument packs are truly wonderful, beautiful, amazing, etc ! but there are sooo many more instruments crying out for attention which i'm sure would be given welcome and avid reception by individual users and institutions alike.

Unfortunately modelling it's not as easy as sample a piano. It took a lot of time and money.

I believe, just my guess, that Modartt feels that people didn't gave the the recognition the historic models deserved.

+1 for this proposal, and thanks for the video links. Modartt does the historical instruments so well, I'm sure any new additions would be very welcome. How I would love to have a modelled Cristofori at my disposal!

'was looking for pedagogic material the other day & had occasion to be going through some JCBach and young Mozart's London sketchbook on the Walter, and it occurred to me that the instrument really felt too big for this mannered frühklassik stuff... i think what one really needs would perhaps be more something like a Stein instrument ==> http://www.fortepiano.eu/instruments/models/stein.html ,
